A.D.'s Bio
A music industry veteran for over 31 years, graduate from Howard University in 1991 with a B.A. Degree in Economics. After finishing school, I headed to the West Coast to start my career with Bust-It Records as the East Coast Marketing Representative. During my tenure at Bust-It Records, I promoted MC Hammer, Special Generation, Oaktown 3.5.7, Doug E Fresh and B Angie B. MC Hammer became the Top selling rap artist in 1990 selling 20 million units of “Please Hammer Don’t Hurt’em”.
In 1992 I departed Bust-It Records to start Streetwise Promotions Inc. Streetwise became a powerhouse company in the San Francisco Bay Area from 1992-1998.
The company is responsible for the success of many artists, including OutKast, Notorious B.I.G, Redman, Goodie Mob, Craig Mack, Usher, Monica, and Total to name just a few.
In the spring of 1996, I expanded the company to Miami to establish Streetwise Promotions South.
In the fall of 1996, I joined Interscope Records as the Director of the Rap Department. While in this position, I created the Interscope street teams and implemented street marketing strategies to promote all Interscope Rap and Urban artists.
Under my direction, the teams created a huge street presence for Eminem and were largely responsible for his wildly successful debut album, "My Name Is".
The teams were also instrumental in the success of other new Interscope artists such as Mya, the Black-Eyed Peas, Eve, Ruff Ryders and Bulworth Soundtrack.
In 1997 I became the West Coast Regional Director of Urban Radio Promotions. In 2000 I moved from Los Angeles to New York to become the North East & Mid-Atlantic Regional representative for Urban Radio. In 2005 I became the National Director of Radio Promotions for Cash Money Records and in 2011 started Kingdom Marketing & Promotions which continues to consult various record companies and promote artists on the digital platform in the Urban, Crossover and Gospel arena.
